Then the clay that came out goes straight back in - broken up, blended with compost and packed around the wood - and whatever the mound cannot hold becomes the berm beside it.<br><br>OPEN EIGHTEEN INCHES OF GROUND. MOUND THIRTY-SIX INCHES UP. EVERYTHING THAT COMES OUT GOES BACK IN.<br>Four and a half feet of working profile, three feet of it above ground. No walls, no corners, nothing to replace in eight years - there is nothing above ground but soil.<br><br>NOTHING LEAVES. NOTHING NEW.<br>Not one wheelbarrow goes off your property. The clay we dig out goes straight back in - broken up, screened, blended with compost and packed around the wood. What the mound cannot hold becomes the berm and swale beside it.
